Soul Canvas Program

- Unleashing Power through Art and Expression  
What it is
  • Soul Canvas is a-five-part arts-based workshop series that seeks to Promote healing, self-discovery, and empowerment through artistic expression among BIPOC female-presenting and gender non-conforming folks between the ages of 16 and 22 living in Niagara. This Workshop series will culminate in a public open house/exhibit show casing the art. This initiative is an artistic opportunity created by Suitcase in Point in partnership with Future Black Female.  
Key Aims
  • ​Create mental health workshops that tie in artistic expression to self-expression, healing, and overall well-being among Black girls.   

  • Offer a series of creative workshops that will create a safe and non-judgmental space where participants feel comfortable expressing themselves and engaging in open dialogue.   

  • Partner with Black artists to add depth, provide authenticity, and cultural enrichment to young black female presenting youth.   

  • To enhance the learning experience, strengthen community bonds, and empower participants to embrace their artistic potential with confidence as they see themselves reflected in the dynamic artistic landscape and cultural positioning within the Niagara community.  

Incentives
  • All participants who are accepted for all workshops and performance will be given an honorarium.  

  • All workshops will include food, snacks, refreshments.  

  • Travel assistance to and from the workshops is available.  

  • Public open house/exhibit show casing the art.
