VOLUNTEER

Youth Community Board Director (non-voting).

Location: St Catharines

Obligation: 6-8 hours per month

Community Members

By joining FBF as a Community member, you can play an important role in impacting the lives of Black girls and young women across Canada.  Community membership provides an opportunity for you to put your experience, drive and leadership to work as you collaborate with Board members in executing critical projects and action plans in support of advancing FBF’s strategic plan and priorities.  Community membership will give you exposure to all of FBF’s programs and activities, as well as the opportunity to assess your ongoing capacity and ability to support our mission over an extended time.

Community members do not participate in FBF’s monthly BOD meetings (unless they are expressly invited by the BOD) nor do they have any voting privileges.  However, as Board member terms expire and/or BOD vacancies arise, successful commitment and contribution at the Community member level can be a stepping stone to a future BOD appointment.

Community members are expected to support the work of at least one of FBF’s standing committees (Stewardship, Connection and Impact) and to assist with the execution of any special/time-sensitive projects undertaken by the BOD at large.  The monthly time commitment for Community members varies according to the number of projects and priorities the BOD and committees are focused on at any given time; however, you can generally expect to volunteer 6-8 hours each month.
